University Jinja campus.
Ndhoga's
impressive educational background and media expertise have laid the foundation
for a promising political career. Currently serving as LC3 Ibulanku
sub-county and Bugweri Town Council in Bugweri District,
Ndhoga
Ibrahim embarked on his media career as an intern at NBS Radio 89.4 in the
newsroom department, reporting from Bugweri District and writing various
stories for the radio.
Upon
completing his internship, Nathan Igeme Nabeta, then CEO of NBS TV, offered him
an opportunity to join the production room team recording shows like that of
Lady Titie, abazeyi bbe Bama, Akandolindoli among other’s. Following his stint
at NBS TV and Radio, Ndhoga pursued his passion for journalism, drawing
inspiration from Kirunda Farouk, Assistant Press Secretary at State House.
In
2013-2016, Dan Saire presented him with an opportunity at 91.1RFM Iganga, where
Ndhoga honed his skills as Sports Presenter and News Reader (in Lusoga).
Undeterred,
Ibrahim continued to grow. Building on his experience, he transitioned from RFM
in 2016 to Busoga One Radio, seizing opportunities in its pioneering phase.
After
working with Busoga One for over a year, Ndhoga Ibrahim's contract expired. He
had requested a salary increase after six months, but instead, his contract was
terminated. Disappointed, he returned home without sharing his struggles with
his parents.
In
2017, Baba TV and Radio CEO, Balyeku Moses, reached out to him with an idea to
launch a TV station. They shared ideas, and Ndhoga joined Baba TV after its
inception, working there until 2020. His primary role involved reporting from
Parliament and other roles.
Due
to his passion for communication, Presidential Press Secretary Linda Nabusayi
assigned Ndhoga to cover the President's events. He was also part of the
Kyabazinga Press Unit.
After
leaving Baba TV due to unavoidable circumstances, Ndhoga Ibrahim returned to
Busoga one radio season two and that was 20th May 2020. Programs manager Odwori
John proposed a new current affairs program called Ebyekusifu, and was doing it with Isaac Sparks Mugabi,
who was fired and Betty came in to replace her.
Before
joining Busoga One radio, Ndhoga Ibrahim received offers from Start TV (under
UBC) and NBS TV (Investigative Desk). However, he declined these opportunities
due to Security concerns, Strong brotherly ties with Odwori John, a close
friend and Political considerations, as he intended to contest in the 2021
elections.
His
political ambitions led to a stint in a Kampala safe house after speaking out
against the government on air. Upon his return, he opted not to rejoin Busoga
One and instead took a two-year hiatus from media.
In
2022, Ibrahim proposed starting a radio station in Jinja City through Enid
Nabukwasi to Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi. Nandala accepted the proposal, and the
project moved forward with securing a frequency from the Uganda Communications
Commission.
Ndhoga
Ibrahim doesn't regret being part of the media fraternity. It has shaped him
into who he is today and enabled him to build valuable social connections with
prominent individuals globally.
He's
grateful to his mother for shouldering responsibilities despite hardships,
ensuring his education and never discriminating against him.
What
inspired Ibrahim to pursue journalism?
"I
wanted to report facts and amplify the voices of the oppressed," he says.
"My goal is to educate the public on critical issues, empowering them to make
informed decisions and improve their lives.
In
conclusion, Ndhoga Ibrahim expresses his satisfaction with his life journey so
far. He vows to continue growing his career and has set his sights on politics,
aspiring to become the District Local Council 5 Chairperson for Bugweri
District on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket in 2026.
