Tororo police issue statement on a vivid murder case.

The territorial police in Tororo are investigating a case murder that occurred on 02/09/2024 at around 1830/c in nyangole 'a' cell, Nyangole ward, eastern division, Tororo municipality, Tororo district.


This incidence was reported by mabonga George aged 58 yrs old, a mugishu by tribe chairperson lc 1 Nyangole 'a' cell Nyangole ward, eastern division, Tororo municipality, Tororo district.


The deceased was identified as Hawa Mariam Nubian by tribe business was murdered by unknown assailants in Tororo municipality.


It's alleged that on the 02/09/2024 at around 18:30pm at Nyangole a' village one Hawa Mariam (deceased) was found lying down unconscious in her house with a wire cable of a flat iron tied around her neck and had an injury on her right eye. That she was rushed to doctor specialized plaza Tororo for treatment and on arrival she was pronounced dead and the body taken back to her home in Nyangole a' cell.


According to Ip mugwe Johnson moses.ag. Pro, Bukedi south-region Tororo. Says a report was registered vide Tororo Sd ref: 92/02/09/2024 and crb:748/2024 respectively as the scene of crime was visited and documented by soco, a team of homicide detectives and other police officers commanded by the district Cid officer Tororo.


He further says the statements were recorded from relevant witnesses and two suspects thus Hamdan Yusuf a brother to the deceased said to have had land wrangles with the deceased and a step son one Omara Micheal who stayed with the deceased were arrested to aid in investigations.


Johnson says the body was conveyed to Tororo hospital mortuary for postmortem , which was done and later handed over for burial which was done 03/09/2024, after the region pro's sensitization of the mourners on personal security, neighborhood watch, visibility, alertness, identification of suspicious elements in communities, timely sharing of information with neighbors, civil authorities and police, quick communication, coordination and cooperation and shared police leaders telephone numbers in the district and region, to enhance easy sharing of information.


He went Went ahead and says preliminary findings revealed that the body was found lying on a mat in her sitting room on spinal position with an injury on the right eye and on the neck and there was suspected blood stains at the scene of crime and a wire cable of a flat iron suspected to have been used in strangling the deceased.


That the deceased was staying with her 16-year-old step son in a wall fenced house.


Mugwe Jonson says they were unable to introduce the canine to the crime scene since it was already tampered with by the first responders who picked the victim and rushed her to the hospital in trying to save her life as inquiries at hand.

Mariam Naigaga the Woman MP  has lost the National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairperson seat for Namutumba District to Simon Menya, who won by a wide margin. Jinja District Unveils 47.67 Billion Shilling Budget for 2025/26

By Kenneth Wamatoyi Jinja District Council has unveiled a proposed budget of 47.67 billion shillings for the financial year 2025/26, focusing on wages, infrastructure, and essential services. The budget, presented on March 25, 2025, at Jinja District Hall, is now under review by various district committees before final approval. The budget allocates 29.15 billion shillings (61.1%) to wages, 15.48 billion shillings (32.5%) for non-wage recurrent expenditures, and 3.04 billion shillings (6.4%) for capital development projects. Speaker Namukose Monica stated that councillors have been given time to review the budget and suggest amendments.
