POLICE ARRESTS NOTORIOUS PANGA WELDERS IN JINJA CITY.

Police in the Kiira region have arrested five wanted suspects, alleged machete killers, including their commander, Latif Abudallah Mulondo, 24, notoriously known as "Assassin." Mulondo was apprehended along with his wife, Rosette uwimana 21, who resides in Entebbe on Kawuku Mulanda Road. The other suspects are Joseph Lubirire, 23, and his girlfriend, Kent endy Mpumwire, 28, who recently returned from Qatar after completing her contract.
According to reports, Cate's financial support was funding the group's transportation in various areas, including Masese, Bugembe, Mafubira, Mpumude, Kampala, Mengo, Kisenyi, Mbale, Busia, and Tororo.
The fourth suspect has been identified as Jacob Ogwal, driver of a Toyota Mark X with registration number UBM 318D. The suspects were apprehended in Mbale City at the Tororo Road traffic checkpoint, following a collaborative effort by Kiira Region Police, Elgon Mbale Region Police, Road cameras and Intelligence gathering. The successful arrest was a result of enhanced surveillance and coordination between law enforcement agencies.
According to SP James Mubi, Kiira Region Police spokesperson, Latif Abudallah, alias "Assassin," led the suspects who traveled from Kawuku along Entebbe Road on September 26, 2024, en route to Nakaloke, Northern Division, Mbale City. Their alleged plan was to commit a heinous crime, given Abudallah's notorious moniker.
The suspects, now in custody, face accusations of involvement in an aggravated robbery on October 1, 2023. They allegedly intercepted a vehicle carrying Chinese nationals transporting goods(fish maws) valued at 175 million shillings in a Toyota Rager UAZ 949S.
The suspects kidnapped two Chinese nationals and their driver, then took them to a swamp in Budodo. They subsequently drove the vehicle (Toyota Rager UAZ 949S) to Busende Sub-County in Jinja District, where they offloaded the stolen goods into another vehicle. Their intention was to sell the materials on the black market.
Among the nine suspects on remand are notorious individuals, including Chris Kyikuli, alias "Dedodi," Samuel Muwaguzi, alias "Foster," Farouk Wambogo, and Ramathan Magumba. This brings the total number of suspects to 14, with more being pursued by the police.
Kiira Region Police spokesperson, SP James Mubi, expressed gratitude to RPC Charles Nsaaba and CID Wilson Agabba for their collaborative efforts in combating robbery in the region and Jinja City ¹. Mubi noted that crime rates are decreasing, ensuring a safer environment for residents and businesses to thrive.
The police have been conducting intensive operations in Jinja, arresting suspects and confiscating exhibits like pangas, marijuana, and suspected stolen properties ¹. Their efforts aim to address escalating criminal activities, particularly radicalized street children engaged in crimes like phone snatching and housebreaking.
