Traditional Herbalist Arrested Attempting to Steal Four-Year-Old Girl in Namulesa, Jinja City.

A 42-year-old traditional herbalist, Faziru Adam Mukulu, a resident of Kamigo - Buyengo Town Council, Jinja District, was arrested on November 28, 2024, for allegedly attempting to abduct a four-year-old girl in Namulesa, Jinja City. Mukulu was apprehended as the other suspect remains on the run. 

According to reports, the suspects were traveling on a motorcycle (registration number (UFT 448M) when they reached Namulesa Trading Centre along the Jinja-Kamuli road. They attempted to lure the child with chapati and biscuits, with the purported intent to abduct her for ritual sacrifice. the residents informed Mafubira police station officers to arrest him immediately.  

Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson, SP James Mubi, confirmed the arrest of Mukulu and revealed that the motorcycle used by the suspects has been impounded. The police are actively searching for Mukulu's accomplice. During the investigation, authorities recovered tobacco pipes, dead human bones, local herbs, sweets, and chapati from the suspects' bags.

SP Mubi commended the residents of Namulesa for their vigilance, particularly ahead of the festive season, and urged parents and guardians to be extra cautious in protecting their children. He emphasized that criminal groups are targeting children for abduction, sexual assault, and abuse.

The police also reiterated their commitment to continue leading sensitization campaigns focused on eliminating violence against women, girls, and children
