Chairman Lc5 Jinja District Mr Batwala Moses.
Moses Batwala, the LC5 Chairman, has expressed his gratitude to the President for visiting the PDM (Parish Development Model) assessment in the region. He highlighted how Mr. Kazibwe, who manages a farm on 4 acres of land, demonstrated his work and how many people he employs, creating a positive impact on the community. Batwala made these remarks while speaking with Dinka Nation website at his office.
Batwala encouraged leaders to implement initiatives that will serve as examples, enabling the successful spread of the PDM message throughout the community. He further emphasized that while politics is important, development should also be a priority. He stated, It would be good if we learn something from the assessment and focus not just on politics, but also on development.
Batwala also spoke about the road fund, mentioning that it has been received and construction is underway. For example, the Buwenge-Butagaya-Kamuli road is being constructed, and the Buyengo road is also being worked on to facilitate the free movement of goods and improve service delivery to the community, as murrum will be poured on these roads.
He added that town councils and sub-counties should take responsibility for building their own roads as part of their work plans. He also referenced a situation where a leader had attempted to take him to court over the construction of these roads.
Batwala called upon leaders to move beyond politics and focus on development. He urged them to collaborate with him for the betterment of the community, emphasizing the importance of working together to achieve positive results.
The remarks arose following the President's visit to Jinja and the Busoga region, where he commissioned the Abyssinia factory in Jinja and conducted an assessment of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in the region. The President also met with leaders from Mayuge District and journalists at the State Lodge in Kityerera, Mayuge. Additionally, he commissioned the upgrading works for the Kimaka Airfield.
