The police in kiira
region jinja city have denied the
widespread misinformation circulating on social media, claiming that a woman
cut off her husband's private parts in Nawampanda Parish, Butagaya Sub-County,
Jinja District. Authorities have clarified that this information is completely
misleading and untrue. The public is urged to ignore such unverified
information, which is intended to spark unnecessary debates in the public
domain.
The false information
began circulating on Tuesday afternoon, March 12, 2025, alleging that a woman
named Kagoya faatumah had cut off her husband's private parts.
According to the correct
account of the incident, on Monday, March 10, 2025, Nicholas Dhabuliwo, 31,
returned home to Nawampanda Parish while intoxicated. He began verbally abusing
and physically attacking his wife, demanding his three old boxers. The woman,
identified as Fatuma kagoya , 23, searched the house and handed over the boxers
to her husband. However, despite receiving the three old boxers, Nicholas
continued to demand a fourth pair, which the woman could not find.
This led to Nicholas
beating his wife. In self-defense, Fatuma fought back and stabbed her husband
in the chest three times and once in the left arm. Nicholas started bleeding
and was rushed to a nearby health facility. He is now out of danger and receiving
treatment at home. According to the medical report, he sustained only minor
injuries.
SP James Mubi, the Kiira
Region Police spokesperson, clarified that the man’s private parts are intact,
contrary to the claims circulating on social media. Fatuma kagoya is currently
at the Central Police Station (CPS) Buwenge, assisting police with the
investigation. Mubi further explained that the Child and Family Protection
Officer at CPS Buwenge is providing counseling to the couple to help maintain
peace and stability in their family.
Mubi also shared that
Nicholas Dhabuliwo claimed that the ghost of his late father had ordered him to
wear the old boxers, which he believed would enhance his chances of prosperity
in the Busoga Sub-Region. Dhabuliwo is a traditional herbalist.
The Kiira Regional Police
Command plans to engage with all traditional herbalists in Jinja to guide them
on how to conduct their practices without compromising the safety and security
of individuals and property.
Mubi emphasized the
importance of responsible citizen journalism, stating, "While citizen
journalism is valuable, we must always adhere to the basic journalistic
principles of fairness, accuracy, right of reply, and verification." He
warned the public against spreading false information, as it can weaken the
country's economy, politics, hospitality, military, and communication sectors.
Ensuring peace, stability, and sustainable socio-economic transformation is a
responsibility for every citizen.
