Jinja District NRM Boss Assures Community of Transparency Ahead of Party Elections.

JINJA – As the NRM party prepares for its internal elections at the district level, Jinja District NRM Chairman Moses Batwala has reassured the public of a transparent and fair electoral process. He made these remarks during a press briefing held at his office on the afternoon of May 26, 2025.

Batwala emphasized the need for capable and committed leadership within the party, describing himself as a strong mobilizer ready to strengthen NRM structures from the grassroots to the national level. He acknowledged concerns from some community members who feel that party structures are currently dormant, but pledged to revive and energize them.

"The NRM needs leaders who can mobilize effectively and maintain an active presence in the community. I am committed to ensuring transparency and fighting corruption within the party," Batwala stated.

Batwala called on all NRM cardholders to be proactive in defending party values and engaging with their communities. He stressed that the future of the party depends on responsible, honest, and involved leaders.

He also extended an olive branch to individuals who had previously filed petitions regarding the election process, urging them to unite for the greater good of the party. He revealed that 1,277 delegates had been selected and confirmed as eligible voters for the upcoming primaries.

"All voters were registered and eligible. There was no reason for the petition that was filed—it was later canceled by the party secretariat," he clarified.

Batwala confirmed that he had fulfilled all financial obligations related to the electoral process and that all delegates were present at the voting venue. He expressed appreciation to the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Kibwika Michael, for ensuring a secure and orderly process.

He further alleged that certain individuals had attempted to misuse security forces to rig votes but praised the RDC for effectively curbing such activities.

"Attempts to misuse security were neutralized. I thank the RDC for his professionalism and for maintaining peace during the elections," Batwala concluded.

The Jinja District NRM leadership under Batwala continues to promise accountability and a revitalized party structure ahead of the NRM primaries.
