By Kenneth Wamatoyi
Residents of the Kiira Region, including those from
Jinja City and District, together with the joint security management team led
by RPC Kiira, SSP Charles Nsaba, have honoured SSP Dr. Monday Johnson Agaba for
his outstanding service and exemplary leadership during his tenure as the
Regional CID Officer for Kiira Region.
This tribute was paid during a colourful official
handover ceremony held on the evening of Wednesday, May 28, at the regional
headquarters. Many in attendance commended Dr. Monday for his vision,
professionalism, and impartial approach in handling cases and delivering
justice to victims and their families in Jinja.
“Dr. Monday has been instrumental in ensuring
effective and efficient case file management and creating a positive work
environment that will continue even after his departure,” remarked RPC SSP
Charles Nsaba.
“It will take time for the Kiira Regional Police
Command to adjust to his absence,” observed Regional HR Specialist, SSP Andrew
Muzira.
Dr. Monday has left a lasting legacy in Jinja,
according to Reacheal Wambuzi, a news correspondent with the Uganda Radio
Network (URN). She vividly recalled how he relentlessly pursued justice in the
case involving the alleged murder of a street man by a fisheries officer from
Nakaseke District, among many others.
Under the supervision of RPC SSP Charles Nsaba, Dr.
Monday made significant contributions in reducing capital offences such as
murder, aggravated torture, robbery, and human trafficking. He also played a
key role in promoting and protecting human rights, and led efforts against
gender-based violence and violence against children.
The media, NGOs, civil society organizations, the
business community, political leaders, clergy, the Directorate of Public
Prosecutions (DPP), and the Judiciary have all praised Dr. Monday for his
strategic and collaborative partnerships.
In his appreciation message, Dr. Monday commended the
media in Jinja and the wider Busoga sub-region for their impartiality and
active role in supporting the police to fight crime, promote transparency,
ensure accountability, uphold good governance, and support government programs
such as the Parish Development Model (PDM).
“Jinja has very supportive, hardworking, and committed
journalists with a transformative mindset,” he remarked.
He also extended his gratitude to the top security
leadership, strategic stakeholders, and the general public for creating a
hospitable and professionally conducive working environment.
Dr. Monday made special mention of the strategic
command, guidance, and support he received from the top police leadership led
by IGP Mr. Abbas Byakagaba and Director CID, AIGP Tom Magambo. He acknowledged
their continued trust in his abilities and commitment to serve the country.
“In a special way, I thank my boss, the RPC, for his
able leadership and guidance during my tenure. To all my colleagues and the
entire security team—thank you for your teamwork and dedication. I urge you to
extend the same support to my successor,” he said.
Dr. Monday now proceeds to Elgon Region in the same
capacity. His successor in Kiira Region is D/SSP Milton Beigumamu.
