He made these remarks during a press briefing held at his office on the afternoon of May 26, 2025. Batwala emphasized the need for capable and committed leadership within the party, describing himself as a strong mobilizer ready to strengthen NRM structures from the grassroots to the national level. Police Probe Dormitory Fire That Killed 12-Year-Old Pupil in Kamuli

By Kenneth Wamatoyi.  The territorial police in Kamuli District are investigating the cause of a fire that claimed the life of a 12-year-old pupil and destroyed property at Balawoli Primary School. The tragic incident occurred on the night of Sunday, May 25, 2025, at around 11:00 p.m., when a fire broke out in the boys’ dormitory at the school located in Balawoli Town Council, Kamuli District. The blaze reduced pupils’ belongings, including mattresses and scholastic materials, to ashes. The deceased has been identified as Famba Bernard, a Primary Five pupil and son of the school matron. According to eyewitness accounts, the fire rapidly engulfed the dormitory, making it impossible for the child to escape. His two siblings attempted to alert the school matron, who was at the girls’ wing approximately 70 meters away, but by then, Bernard had already been trapped inside as the flames intensified. SHOCK DEFEAT: Hon. Mariam Naigaga Loses NRM Chairpersonship in Namutumba District.

Mariam Naigaga the Woman MP  has lost the National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairperson seat for Namutumba District to Simon Menya, who won by a wide margin. Dr. Tanga Odoi, Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, confirmed that the elections in Namutumba District were conducted smoothly and declared Simon Menya the duly elected NRM District Chairperson. Dr. Odoi clarified that only two positions—Vice Chairperson and Secretary for Publicity—will be contested on Tuesday, July 27, 2025, at Busoga Nsadhu. All other positions were filled through proper electoral procedures. Fatal Accident Claims Two Lives, One Injured in Jinja

By kenneth wamatoyi Jinja traffic police are investigating the cause of a fatal accident that occurred at the Gaddafi Roundabout in Jinja City during the morning hours of May 1. The accident involved a taxi with registration number UAS 239E and a motorcycle with registration number 566F . Both vehicles were heading toward Jinja City’s central business city from Bugembe. According to SP James Mubi , the Kiira Region Police spokesperson, the motorcycle rider—whose identity is yet to be confirmed—and his passenger, Brian Mutesasira , died on the spot. Their bodies were taken to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary . Mubi added that another passenger who was also on the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the same hospital. The driver of the taxi, Job Ssemakula , has been detained at Jinja Central Police Station (CPS) as investigations continue.
